Celebrating Native American Heritage Month with Round Dance

The Robbinsdale Area Schools American Indian Education program is excited to host its annual Round Dance in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. This year’s event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 22, at Sandburg Middle School.

The Round Dance is a vibrant cultural event that brings together community members for an evening of song, dance, and shared connection. Everyone is welcome to participate in this celebration, which includes traditional music, dancing, and a communal meal.

Deanna StandingCloud will serve as the emcee, with Buster Dunkley as the Stick Man. The evening will feature special dances such as the Men and Women’s Side Step Special, Youth Side Step Special, and a Potato Dance.

In addition to the music and dancing, attendees can enjoy a Frybread and Chili meal provided by Powwow Grounds. For those who do not eat meat, 4 Sisters Soup will be available.

This year’s Round Dance promises to be a meaningful celebration of culture and community, honoring Indigenous traditions while fostering unity and understanding.
